I hope you’ve noticed I haven’t been posting much lately and there’s a good reason for this, a very exciting thing happened that I can finally share with all of you.
A few nights ago, I was watching and tweeting about Nightline’s report on how violence in Reality TV shows has de-sensitized American viewers into thinking it’s OK to punch out Teen Mom or smack Snooki at a bar. Did you see this segment? I thought it was right on point.
At any rate, the next day something quite unexpected happened.
I was contacted by one of this show’s producers to ask me if I would be interested in participating in a reality show about, wait for it… reality shows!!
WHO, ME???!!! WHAT???? I NEARLY JUMPED OUT OF MY SKIN!!!!
A book and now a TV show?!!!!!
My first thought was, Oh the irony! and actually felt sick to my stomach. But after I settled down and thought about the positive impact this could have on the declining state of our television programming, I accepted!!!
Yes I did. I sold out ladies and gents!
Finally, someone over at ABC must have been paying attention to my long-winded posts and saw the light! Everyone kept telling me one day Hollywood would come calling and would see the sense in all my rants. (Thank you. You know who you are!)
And, guess who I called first?
No. Not my mother, but I feel bad for not doing that.
I called the PTC! Yes, my friends over at the Parents Television Council couldn’t have been more happy to hear that one of their friends would be among so-called reality TV stars to point out how they are single-handedly dismantling all sense of propriety and dignity in our youth.
My next phone call was to The Wrap. I have such a sense of gratitude for the folks at this growing Hollywood news on-line publication. I’m sure it was because of their internal fortitude to publish my posts (which are not the views of The Wrap) that I got noticed.
And (after calling my mom) I’m writing to let all of you know about this amazing opportunity! I’m am very nervous, but excited about the prospect of being able to swing the balance away from these scum-riddled shows towards a more sensible outlook on our society.
The unfortunate thing is that I’ll be online even less, with the book and all that I hardly have any time left, but only for a short time while all of this comes together.
In the meantime, I have to send a fair warning to all of you out there in Reality TV Land: Mamarazzi Knows Best is on her way and is going to get on your case!
Oh, and there’s more…
April Fools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope I didn’t get your hopes up. Lol! If you want more here’s last year’s post. Have a great weekend! PS Don’t spoil the fun by going to Twitter about this unless you want to RT so we get others, OK? But you can certainly complain here. Thanks!
YOU TOTALLY HAD ME GOING!!! I was so excited for you! I thought, 'WOW Finally some sense coming to reality tv. I think I might actually watch this show (as I loath and rarely watch reality tv). And THEN before I finished the post I ALMOST tweeted the exciting news… glad I read to the end of the post first.
Good one… you really had me going.
@semperfimomma
Aww, I'm sorry if I got you all excited. Thanks for being a good sport about it. Maybe you could RT the link and we can get some others today, he, he…
I am in Italy. Think I'll use jet lag as the excuse for why I fell for this. I would have watched Suzette…
Pretty sure you Fooled Me last year too. Damn, you're good. you totally had me convinced that there was going to be a Reality Show about Reality Shows!
Ciao Bella! I hope I didn't make your heart race with this little prank. Enjoy Italia, and have a strong cup of coffee with a delicious pastry for me! Envision me green with envy now!
Sorry, Sondra! It would be an awesome show, wouldn't it? I'd give anything to be on a show about reality shows. Last year's prank was good, huh?. I remember laughing so hard as I wrote it. This one actually scared me a bit.
I fell for it hook, line and sinker! HA!
If you did, then it must mean my prank post isn't that far fetched!! Which actually gives me hope, right? Hope you got a laugh though!
