Hotel Review: Hyatt Centric Times Square New York

We stayed at the Hyatt Centric Times Square on our recent trip to New York.

New York in October is a visitor’s delight! The weather is perfect, the leaves are still on the trees at Central Park, the ice rink at Rockefeller Center is open, and the amount of tourists decreases to a manageable herd on 5th.

We traveled from San Diego to New York the week of October 13-18, 2016. It’s never been easier to travel to the Big Apple from America’s Finest City than now. There’s at least five daily non-stop flights to choose from!

On the other hand, selecting a hotel in New York that is ideally situated, not too old, un-renovated, or restored in a piece-meal fashion is tough.

Most hotels in Manhattan will cost around $300 per night. So it makes sense to stay at a newer property. This average price per night does not apply to luxury hotels, of course.

We stayed at the uber centrally located Hyatt Centric Times Square. Don’t let the name fool you. This property is a block off Times Square, but it feels like you’re far away from the hustle and bustle of this area.

Times Square, New York

Situated mid-way between Times Square and 5th Avenue, the Hyatt Times Square is the perfect place to stay in midtown Manhattan. Theaters, the Steven Colbert Show, shopping, and 30 Rock are a very short walk from this here.

This fashionable hotel was recently built with many modern amenities. As you know, I am very particular about hotel amenities because I don’t like to have to call to get things set up in the room on arrival.

A room at the Hyatt Centric Times Square

Our room was on the 11th floor (we usually ask for higher floors due to the city’s noise) and faced W45th street. The double room was spacious and was actually quiet! We had a Kurig coffee machine stocked with Starbucks coffee, complimentary water bottles, FREE Wi-Fi (yes!), and a safe.

But the best part of this room? Heated bathroom floors! This, my friends, was an amazing thing for my feet. Oh, and the bathroom was spacious, new, and everything worked!

The small lobby has a restaurant and coffee bar. There’s a cool rooftop bar, too. We ordered room service one morning, and were a little disappointed with the style. Be aware that they serve room service as if you had ordered Take-Out. Novel? Yes. Expensive? Yes. Recommend it? Nope. Breakfast was still $90 for 3 people, and it was delivered in a paper bag.

Brunch at Benoit, New York

For a nice meal, try the French Bistro, Benoit at 60 W 55th Street. We had Sunday brunch here, and it was like being in Paris!

Overall, our stay was comfortable, very pleasant, and convenient. The room was super comfortable with working AC and heat. We walked everywhere!
