“The Snoopy & Belle in Fashion” exhibit made a special stop at Comic-Con 2017 in San Diego.

The famous beagles are siblings, and they took on the masses at a special pop-up venue located on 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter downtown San Diego. “The Snoopy & Belle in Fashion” exhibit debuted at the Louvre in Paris in 1984, with high fashion designers from Karl Lagerfeld to Gianni Versace dressing the pair.

Designer Simon Legno unveiled a special tokidoki design just for Comic-Con.  Melissa Menta, exhibit producer and senior vice president at Peanuts Worldwide, graciously took time on this hot and sticky day to give me a personal tour of the boutique set up.

“We brought 13 pairs out of the 60 that are part of the current exhibit,” she said. “The tokidoki design has been the most popular here,” she added.

During the nonstop worldwide museum tour, the exhibit has added more designers to the pooches’ posh closet; Dian Von Furstenberg, MAC Cosmetics, Academy Award Winning Costume Designer Colleen Atwood, Christian Siriano, Zac Posen and more.

Atwood won the Oscar for her costumes in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.” Menta told me Atwood used the same cloth she used to make Johny Depp’s Mad Hatter costume. Belle’s costume is inspired by her work on “Memoirs of a Geisha.”

Other notable designers that are part of the exhibit in San Diego are Betsy Johnson, Rachel Zoe, and Royal Assher X Puma who’s design includes real jewels.

The temporary exhibit offers merchandise for fans, too. Totes with a special tokidoki design, collectible pins, posters, and t-shirts are available for purchase.

A new Snoopy & Belle In Fashion app guides visitors through the exhibit, provides insider information about the history of the brand and the designers, and offers visitors a chance to vote for their favorite doll set. The app also features a photo booth and Snapchat and Instagram filters—perfect for taking a selfie with Snoopy!

In addition to San Diego, the exhibition has already traveled to Los Angeles, Denver, Sarasota, Nashville, and Washington DC and will hit its final destination at Brookfield Place in New York City in September in time for New York Fashion Week.
