ABC’s Expedition Impossible Team, Modern Gypsies, Launch
“Compassionate Adventurer” Mission on heals of Reality TV Win!
The Modern Gypsies from San Diego, California emerged as the winners out of 13 teams who competed in the first season of ABC's new reality show Expediton Impossible!
Expedition Impossible came to an adrenaline-pumping conclusion during Thursday's finale as the Colorado team, No Limits, with one blind member, battled to the finish line against The Modern Gypsies – the formidable moustached trio who captured our hearts with their amiable dispositon through the difficult challenges they overcame during the show.
On the heals of this momentus victory, Taylor Filasky, John Post and Eric Bach are announcing the launch of their first “Compassionate Adventurer” mission with international charity and educational partner, Free the Children.
The goal is to start a unique movement, which inspires individuals to explore both themselves and the world around them, awakening the compassionate adventurer in us all. They're also working to raise awareness, generate funds as well as expose and address the many challenges faced by the impoverished world.
Through their “Compassionate Adventurer” mission, The Modern Gypsies will be traveling the land, living with locals and learning about social issues from an insider's perspective. In addition to working on a philanthropic project, they will be completing one adventure, such as climbing the highest peak in South America to trekking thousands of miles through the treacherous Amazon. The Modern Gypsies will do this all while learning about the land and the people that make it so beautiful.
“'Through our travels we have been inspired by people we have met and places we have seen,” says Filasky. “In turn, we want to inspire others to awaken the compassionate adventurer in themselves and give back to their own communities and the world around them.'”
Eric Bach of San Francisco, Taylor Filasky of San Diego, and John Post of Pensacola, FL, have collectively lived, worked, volunteered and traveled through more than 45 countries. Throughout the season of Expedition Impossible, a Mark Burnett show, the three friends raced across the terrains of Morocco, each week facing a new stage of the adventure to vie for the winning spot, $50,000 for each team member and a brand new Ford Explorer.
Currently, the Modern Gypsies are teaming up with Free the Children to help encourage social action and raise awareness about issues at home and in developing countries around the world, all while trying to inspire the compassionate adventurer within.
Through its “Adopt a Village” development model, Free the Children works holistically with communities to break the cycle of poverty and create sustainable change. The Modern Gypsies have selected three of Free The Children’s “Adopt a Village” countries (Ecuador, Kenya and India) and are encouraging fans to visit www.moderngypsies.com and vote for the one they should make their next compassionate adventure, and help support.
· If they travel to Ecuador, the Modern Gypsies will explore the issue of clean water and help with a variety of activities within the country’s Chimborazo provincethis may include interacting with a local family and experiencing firsthand the process it takes for a family to collect water.
· If they travel to Kenya, the Modern Gypsies will explore the issue of health care and participate in a variety of activities within the Narok South District of Kenya. This may include interacting with Masaii Warriors, learning about the issues of health care, and helping with the construction of new health clinic facilities and traveling with a mobile health clinic
· If they travel to India, the Modern Gypsies will explore the topic of alternative income and support a variety of activities in the Udaipur district in the northern state of Rajasthan.
