Energy103.7 to Host ‘Mommy & Me’ Activities at AJ’s Kids Crane

Donate a toy at AJ’s Kids Crane for Rady Children’s Hospital, and you could meet a princess, play on the Tumble Gym Bus,  hang with Kid Ventures, or come and say “Hello” to me, Suzette Valle. All of this is part of Kids Night and Mommy and Me activities at AJ’s Kids Crane!

For the 14th year,  AJ’s Kids Crane goes up November 13 to collect toys and donations for the sick kids at Rady Children’s Hospital. Let’s help him top last year’s number of toys and donations, and reach the goal to collect 100,000 toys so AJ can come down and be home in time for Thanksgiving!

I am honored to be part of this wonderful event!  I will be under the big tent for Kids Night signing my new book, “101 Movies To See Before You Grow Up,” November 17 from 4:30-7:30pm.

Besides donating books, I will also be donating $1.00 of every sale to AJs Kids Crane to help buy toys for the kids at Rady Children’s Hospital. Come by and get “The Good Dinosaur” stickers or tattoos, “Inside Out” posters, “Peanuts” movie activity posters, “Pan” foil tattoos, “Goosbumps” bookmarkers or posters, and other fun movie-related items with your purchase of a book.

Hula Ramos, the producer of the AJ show, will be staying in a trailer near AJ’s Kids Crane, and he is inviting everyone to come out and participate in some fun “Mommy and Me” activities for parents and their kids.

Here’s a message from Hula Ramos:

My name is Hula Ramos, and I am the Executive Producer of the AJ Show on Energy 103.7. We are a morning show in San Diego that has been around for more than 15 years, and I wanted to share with you a great event we have held for the past 14 years.

Here is some brief information about our toy drive…

In 2001, we were part of a radio-thon at Rady Children’s Hospital. While we were at the hospital, we learned from the staff and the children there that there weren’t really new toys for the kids to play with unless it was from the playrooms. Upon hearing that, the host of our morning show, AJ Machado, decided to have a toy drive to collect brand new toys for the hospital. Every year during the toy drive, AJ lives in a scissor lift high off the ground until we reach our toy goal. That toy drive became known as the AJ’s Kids Crane!

Our first year, we were able to collect 10,000 toys thanks to the generosity of San Diegans! As the years went on, we increased our goal. 14 years later, we now have our goal set at collecting 100,000 brand new toys for Rady Children’s Hospital!

I myself, am a parent of two beautiful little girls and I understand how difficult it is to find something fun to do with them during the week.

That is why this year, I have created some “Mommy and Me” activities at our toy drive! Every week day starting on Friday, November 13th from 11am-2pm, we will have some fun events for moms and their kids!

We will have special princesses from The Storybook Character Company visits. They will make a grand entrance, tell a story, sing, teach princess etiquette, and (depending on the number of children present), do face paint and/or balloons. 

Here are the following princesses that will be joining us:

• Friday, November 13th– The Ice Sisters
• Monday, November 16th– The Little Mermaid
• Tuesday, November 17th– Cinderella (2015 Live Action movie version)
• Wednesday, November 18th– Tinkerfairy 
• Thursday, November 19th– Snow White  

Also, during that same time frame, we will have the Tumble Gym Bus on the following dates:

• Friday, Nov 13th from 11am-2pm
• Mon, Nov 16th, from11am-2pm
• Tues, Nov 17th, from 11am-2pm

And Kidventures on the following dates:

–              Weds Nov 18th from 11am-2pm

–              Thurs Nov 19th from 11am-2pm 

Complimentary Lunch:

• Fri Nov 13^th 11am – Lunch from Souplantation
• Mon Nov 15th 11am – Small Smoothies from Jamba Juice Mission Valley
• Tues Nov 16^th 11am – Taco Tuesday with Sombreros

I know you are wondering, how can I get my group to come join you? All you need to do is show up with a donation of a toy or cash donation for our toy drive and you get to participate in our “Mommy and Me” activities!
