Bren Herrera and I partipated in a video contest, and is a very entertaining food blooger. She's joined up with other food bloogers to help raise funds for Haiti. Please read and consider helping out any way you can!
“In light of the unfathomable devastation Haiti suffered two weeks ago, three food bloggers have come together and mobilized a nationwide, multi-city event in support of Haiti's Relief. We feel passionately about their loss and helping them recover the most essential elements of living.
Bren of Flanboyant Eats, Chrystal of The Duo Dishes and Courtney of Coco Cooks, have partnered up to create STIR IT 28: Food Bloggers Align for Haiti Relief. Stir It is about the global culinary community coming together to help in the rebuilding of the poor island nation, through what we do best: COOK.
STIR represents the action we as chefs, restaurateurs, home cooks, and food bloggers take in the kitchen; “stirring” up interest and activity for Haiti relief. 28 represents the number of days in February–our month long effort to support Haiti.
To that end, STIR IT is a 3-part campaign and effort to raise a minimum of $50,000. 100 percent of proceeds will be donated directly to Share Our Strength and Yéle. Both are supporting our campaign and helping us get the word out!”
1. MULTI-CITY BRUNCH/COCKTAIL HOUR FUNDRAISER ON FEBRUARY 21, 2010
Each one of us will be hosting an early evening culinary event on Sunday, February 21st! The spirit of the event is to celebrate life, give hope and be selfless in our giving. 28 chefs, restaurants, home-cooks and food bloggers will participate by donating 2-3 dishes that will feed 15-20 (per dish). Attendance to the event is open to the public, with tickets available for purchase in advance, with limited tickets available at the door. The fun part is that each city's event will offer a different ambiance and vibe, but with the same goal in mind: solidarity and raising funds.

3.PARTICIPATE IN HUNGER LIVES NO MORE: ONE COMMENT. ONE EATS.
Bren has a hunger campaign called One Comment. One Eats. For every comment left on the first post of each month, Bren has donated one food item to a local food bank in Atlanta. We are excited to extend this campaign to our Haiti efforts. We invite you to participate in the February campaign, too. For every comment you receive on your first post of February, we encourage and hope you donate ONE food item to Share Our Strength, our designated beneficiary of this element. SOS and Bren are coordinating the receipt of food items. The cut off date
for comments on that designated post is Feb. 28th. If you are inter-ested in participating in One Comment. One Eats., please email Bren at bren@flanboyanteats.com
She will provide you with a badge you can place on your blog that reads: “I gave to One Comment. One Eats.-Haiti“
A big thanks to you for posting this! We hope the word continues to spread. 🙂
