Cirque du Soleil is well known world-wide for its unique, artistic musical shows incorporating daring acrobatics refined by graceful ballet and modern dance choreography. San Diego's Valley View Casino Center (formerly the Sports Arena) will host 8 performances of the Canadian company's show Quidam, which premiered in Montreal in April 1996.

Today, 23 nationalities make up the 52 strong troop of world-class acrobats, musicians, singers and dancers, which travels and performs year round with only a two week break between each 10-week tour. It takes 150 people 12 straight hours to build the amazing riggings which propel the defying, high-flying acrobats during the captivating two-hour performance.

“The show revolves around young Zoé who is bored and whose her parents, distant and apathetic, ignore her. Her life has lost all meaning. Seeking to fill the void of her existence, she slides into an imaginary world—the world of Quidam—where she meets characters who encourage her to free her soul.
Quidam is a nameless passer-by, a solitary figure lingering on a street corner, a person rushing past and swallowed by the crowd. It could be anyone, anybody. Someone coming or going at the heart of our anonymous society. A member of the crowd, one of the silent majority. The one who cries out, sings and dreams within us all. This is the “quidam” whom this show allows to speak. This is the place that beckons—a place for dreaming and genuine relations where all quidams, by proclaiming their individuality, can finally emerge from anonymity.”
