We celebrated 25 years of marriage last year (woo hoo!). As you can imagine, my husband and I have had our fair share of Valentine’s Day celebrations, so we’re always looking for fun and different things to do on this special day. Since we love movies, this year we plan to be at The Headquarters for an Outdoor Movie Date Night Friday, February 12th. This is a free public event, and best of all it’s hassle free!

For a twist on the traditional Valentine’s Day date night, The Headquarters will be hosting an outdoor movie night featuring the love and crime classic “Bonnie and Clyde” on Friday, February 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is completely free – guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets.

We might try to make this day extra special (and less stressful) by getting ready for our outdoor movie date night with these fun ideas provided by The Headquarters at Seaport Village:

  • Shopping for warm sweatshirts or Stance Socks from Urban Beach House. For something more fashionable, maybe we’ll try Madison San Diego Boutique.
  • Popping into Seaside Papery, one of my favorite stationary shops, to get our Valentine cards.
  • Putting a pic-nick style basket together at Venissimo Cheese, who will offer Contraband Curds cheese plates featuring previously banned cheeses! These $10 cheese plates will include dried fruit, chocolate, crackers and accoutrement.
  • With more than 20 hand-made gelato flavors, Gelato Paradiso will let movie guests “steal” a cone with any purchase ($1.00 value).
  • From Feb. 12th- 14th local company Urban Shindigs will have a pop up floral shop and “Bloom Bar” in the central courtyard – the perfect place to buy blooms for your Valentine! (Hint!)
  • Or pick up a few sweet morsels  from  Dallman Chocolate Confections.

At sunset, we’ll head over to The Headquarters’ courtyard to watch the film “Bonnie and Clyde,” the 1967 nostalgic love story, starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, about the infamous couple’s killer love affair. We’ll get cozy with our chairs and blankets and watch this classic film on a giant outdoor screen. Sounds fun, right? I think so!

Here are more suggestions about what you can expect to find at San Diego’s luxury waterfront destination this Valentine’s Day.

I love the idea of an outdoor movie date night. Since I’m in New England it would have to be a summer date 🙂

Love, love, love this! Our town is doing painting in the park during a movie. Hopefully it doesn’t rain!
