Disney Announces Slate of Films for 2014

Disney Studios just sent me their slate of movies for the whole year. The 2014 release schedule from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures portends to be a very exciting year for family entertainment.

I’m especially excited for two of the films on this list: The Need for Speed with Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), and Million Dollar Arm with (no, not Jon Hamm) Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi).

I’m one of those still mourning Breaking Bad. Having Aaron Paul star in an upcoming film gives me a small fix for my Breaking Bad addiction.

Besides the fact that Million Dollar Arm is based on a true story, I am very interested in this film because it features Suraj Sharma. He was the star in Life of Pi, and he is also currently a freshman at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. How do I know this? I actually know this as first-hand information: He sat behind my daughter in her Language of Film class at NYU last semester. It always makes watching a film so much more interesting when you have something relatable to either the actors or the story, right?

Which film or films are you most looking forward to watching this year?

Comments

  1. My kids are already looking forward to The Bears. I know my husband will want to check out Million Dollar Arm! There’s always a ton of movies we look forward to for the family and this looks like a very busy year for Disney.

We have yet to see Saving Mr Banks – but I’ve heard incredible reviews – I just think with my 4yo we need to wait for dvd. We saw Monsters University at the drive in and we will probably buy it on blu-ray when it comes out. My personal favorite was Frozen even though it was quite different than what I saw in the trailer.

I agree, Joann! Wait to see Saving Mr. Banks with older kids or your husband. It’s not a kids’ film at all–though it is a fabulous story!
