I recently had the honor of being hosted by the New Canaan Public Library for a presentation of “101 Movies To See Before You Grow Up.”

Lauren Howard, Teen Services Librarian, together with Ellen Crovatto, Director of Development for the library, coordinated the book presentation. Over 50 members of the library attended the event on a chilly and rainy Sunday afternoon.

Ellen Crovatto is my former roommate from Oxford University where we met as students during our post-graduate studies. After my dear friend made the introduction, I showed the audience a short video clip which walked viewers through the book’s layout and interactive sections.
The presentation consisted of illustrating the contents of the book which goes beyond movies’ synopsis. Each page describes how or why some of the most important movies on the list were made.

A couple of very close friends also came in for the presentation. Lisa Nazzaro is my roommate from my undergraduate days at the University of San Diego and took a train from Manhattan into New Canaan. Belinda is a dear friend I met when I lived in London. She drove in from Greenwich, CT. I so appreciate the effort, girls!
After the presentation, I asked the audience questions about what I had discussed, and awarded movie studio swag to those who answered correctly.
At the conclusion, I sold and signed books to an eager crowd ready to continue the fun of film at home!

Everyone left the Adrian Lamb room with movie gear from “Captain America: Civil War,” “Finding Dory,” “Ratchet and Clank,” “The Good Dinosaur,” and much more.
